Sexual Attacks Push More Women into Self-Defense Classes

G3 Martial Arts Facebook

Self-defense classes rise in attendance with more sexual attacks happening over the weekend. G3 Martial Arts held a free seminar. Owner, Trey Simpson, says they had a total of about 30 women show up. These are some of the things taught in the class.

"Learned about being aware of your surroundings, and ways to avoid putting yourself in a situation to become a victim. And then we worked on a few self-defense moves from different scenarios for about an hour and a half. The last half hour or so, we did some Q&A and showed some extra things for the ladies that were a little more specific to what they were wondering about."

He says the recent attacks around Tulsa have put more people on alert

"I think more women want to possess that knowledge. They may not want to obtain a blackbelt, but they want to have something that they can rely on to defend themselves, and that's what caused a huge turn out, I think, for this last seminar. They're taking it very seriously now."

The next free women’s self-defense class is July 13th from noon to 2.00 p.m. at G3 Martial Arts, located at 5084 S. 79th E. Ave.
