The City of Tulsa’s December sales tax check, which covers the period from mid-October 2014 to mid-November 2014, as reported by the Oklahoma Tax Commission, totaled $19,742,731, which is up 3.1 percent from the same period a year ago and 5.6 percent above budget estimates.

Tulsa’s sales tax collections since the beginning of the fiscal year in July 2014 total $117,381,233, which is 2.4 percent above one year ago, and 3.4 percent above budget estimates.

“Tulsa’s economy continues to grow at a steady rate, as shown in the sales tax collections this fall,” said Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett Jr. “This is good news during the current holiday shopping season. Because the City of Tulsa relies on sales tax as our major source of funding, we are living within our means and budgeting carefully, knowing that this revenue source is subject to volatility.”

Use taxes for December totaled $1,985,798, which is down 10.4 percent from the same period a year ago, and 0.7 percent below budget estimates. Use taxes received so far this fiscal year total $11,985,169, which is 2.4 percent above one year ago and 3.2 percent above budget estimates.
