Supporters of a bond issue that funds shelters in schools will get their time in court tomorrow. Take Shelter Oklahoma hopes the State Supreme Court will reset a petition clock to get its measure on a future ballot.
Oral arguments begin tomorrow morning in the case against Attorney General Scott Pruitt. The school shelter advocacy group filed suit late last year, claiming he reworded the ballot title to confuse voters. Take Shelter Oklahoma had 90 days to collect the necessary 155-thousand signatures to get the 500-million dollar bond issue on the ballot, but the group fell short.
The organization hopes the Supreme Court will rule in its favor, rewrite the disputed language, and give Take Shelter another 90 days to collect signatures.
