Run-off Causing Flooding Issues in Eastern Oklahoma

U.S Army Corps of Engineers-Tulsa

The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings and advisories following heavy rainfall across northeastern Oklahoma.

Forecasters in Tulsa issued flood warnings for the Illinois River near Tahlequah, Chewey and Watts. The river was forecast to rise above flood stage at each location and minor flooding is expected through Monday.

Forecasters also issued a flood warning for the Caney River near Collinsville until Sunday afternoon. The river is forecast to rise three feet above its flood stage on Sunday and moderate flooding is expected. The river is expected to fall below flood stage late Sunday morning.

Flood advisories were also issued for the Mulberry River near Mulberry and Flint Creek near the community of Kansas. Forecasters say no flooding is expected but that the rivers will be swift and dangerous.
