Robots fighting wars alongside American soldiers? The future is now.

Tulsa, Oklahoma – Some people hear about robotic soldiers --- or about, say, long-distance remote-controlled "drone" airplanes --- and think only in terms of science fiction. But as we learn on today's StudioTulsa, we as a society are now beginning to see a massive shift in military technology that threatens to make the stuff of I, Robot and The Terminator all too real. Our guest on today's show is P.W. Singer, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution who recently addressed the Tulsa Committee on Foreign Relations. Singer's new book is called "Wired for War: The Robotics Revolution and Conflict in the 21st Century." It's a fascinating and at times downright scary account of how today's hi-tech advancements are dramatically changing not just the manner in which wars are fought, but also the politics, economics, ethics, and laws surrounding war itself.
