Tulsa, OK – Federal funding for the Arkansas River study may be in limbo, but work on the Zink Dam to improve the urban lake in Tulsa is moving forward.

Step One is to raise the low-water dam three feet to lengthen and deepen Zink Lake. Riverparks Board Chairman Ken Leavit says while there are questions about the future of the federal funds, the state of Oklahoma has already provided about $25-million to make improvements to the Zink Dam and Lake, so there's a consensus to move forward on that aspect of the improvements.

Plans include a possible white water flume for kayaking and rafting and enhanced fishing and rowing areas.

It will be at least a couple of years before the project could be completed.
