Results UNOFFICIAL but Baker Wins Second Term As Chief

Andisgoi Website

Incumbent Cherokee Chief Bill John Baker may have pulled off a squeaker of an election. It appears, according to unofficial returns, he bested three other candidates to win the Chief's position without a run off election.

He needed 51% of the vote to win. He had just over 52%. His next closest candidate was former chief Chad Smith who had just over 28-percent of the vote.

The election results now enter a challenge period and a candidate can ask for a recount. The results will not be certified until mid July.

Joe Crittenden won the Deputy Chief position.
