Broken Arrow, OK – Snakes, safe stolen from Okla sanctuary
BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) Cash isn't the only thing of value that was taken during a break-in at a non-profit animal sanctuary in Broken Arrow.
Officials say six exotic snakes were stolen between 9 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday from Safari's Sanctuary. A volunteer found the reptiles missing from their display cases.
Park volunteer Frank Gaddy says some of the snakes, such as an 8-foot albino Burmese python and a 6-foot rainbow Brazilian boa, cost about $600 apiece. The other missing snakes include two bald pythons and two red-tailed boas.
Officials say the snakes that were stolen were donated, and the money inside the safe was to be used for feeding the animals.
