Tulsa, OK – Autopsy report: Clinkscale also had broken neck

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The full version of the autopsy report on former Tulsa linebacker George Clinkscale III shows that he also suffered a broken vertebra in his neck before he died in a boxing match.

The full report was released Monday, filling out information from a preliminary report that explained that Clinkscale died from complications related to sickle cell trait. The report says the broken bone in Clinkscale's neck didn't contribute to his death.

The 24-year-old Clinkscale died Sept. 22 after boxing in an exhibition sponsored by Guts Church. Witnesses said he had cramping and severe pain after the bout.

The Tulsa World reports that the document says Clinkscale was in apparent good health with few indications of sickle cell trait.

Clinkscale's family is pursuing a civil suit over his death.
