A new state agency report has found that 33 men died last year as a result of an officer-involved shooting.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation found that most of the deaths occurred in rural areas, outside of Oklahoma and Tulsa counties.
It also showed that nearly 40 percent of those fatally shot by officers were trying to flee or escape at the time of their deaths.
The Oklahoman newspaper reports that of the 33 fatal shootings, 21 of those killed were white, nine were black, one was Hispanic and two were American Indian.
Oklahoma County led the state with 10 fatal shootings involving officers last year. Tulsa County reported two such cases.
