Remains Found at Lake Eufaula

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) — Pittsburg County officials say the skeletal remains of two people were discovered at Lake Eufaula as result of lingering drought that's caused the lake level to recede.

Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns says that forensic experts from the state Medical Examiner's office arrived on Tuesday to excavate the bones, which included two skulls.

Kerns says several visitors to the lake called to report the remains. He says he's hopeful that the teeth could lead to a positive identification.

Kerns says the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation also was called to assist in the investigation.
