KWGS News photo

People hiking near the Arkansas River, between Sand Springs and  Tulsa,  found human remains and authorities are investigating.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office said the discovery was made at about 1 p.m. Sunday.

The remains include a human skull with a hole in it.

The state Medical Examiner is to determine the nature of the hole in the skull and the age of the bones, after which, authorities may investigate further.
