Record Heat for October

National Weather Service/Owasso 411

State weather officials say the temperature reached 102 degrees in the Oklahoma Panhandle on Monday, making it the highest temperature ever recorded this late in the year. State Climatologist Gary McManus says the 102 temperature recorded at the Mesonet site in Buffalo topped the previous record of 101 degrees at Healdton on Oct. 17, 1972. The heat records date back to the 1880s.
