Rally Held in Tahlequah for Dusten Brown and Family

Cherokee Nation

The Cherokee Nation holds a rally Monday to show support for the father of a 3-year-old Cherokee girl in the center of an adoption dispute.

Dusten Brown has been fighting to keep his biological daughter, Veronica, with him and his family in Oklahoma. A South Carolina court awarded Matt and Melanie Capobianco custody July 31st after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that provisions of the Indian Child Welfare Act don't apply in this case.

Court documents relating to the case in Cherokee County District Court have been sealed and a gag order remains in effect.
