Rain Appears Likely in New Week

NWS Graphic

Some areas of dense fog have developed overnight across parts
of northwest Arkansas into far eastern and southeast Oklahoma.
Patchy freezing fog will by possible early this morning,
especially across northwest Arkansas. Increasing south winds by
this afternoon will result in worsening fire weather conditions
across northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas.

An increasing low-level jet could produce some showers and perhaps
a few thunderstorms Sunday night. Severe weather is not expected.

An active weather pattern is forecast for much of the coming week.
Shower and thunderstorm chances will continue into Monday with the
better chances coming Tuesday and Tuesday night as a cold front
moves into the region. A few strong storms will be possible, but the
main concern will be locally heavy rainfall especially across
southeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas.

Freezing temperatures are expected to build into the northern portion
of the region late Tuesday night with temperatures expected to remain
near or a bit above freezing across much of the area on Wednesday.
Some light icing will be possible during this period generally north
of a line from Fayetteville to McAlester. A warming trend will begin
on Thursday and continue into next weekend, along with chances of
additional rainfall.
