OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A man from Noble wants Oklahomans to vote on whether to outlaw abortion in the state.
Thomas Hunter filed paperwork last week to launch a signature-gathering effort for his proposed state question that says anyone who performs an abortion would be guilty of a homicide.
Hunter's paperwork only included a post office box address, and a telephone number for a Thomas Hunter in Cleveland County was disconnected.
Hunter's proposal is currently in a ten-day window during which any citizen could file a legal protest challenging the petition.
If not challenged in court, the Secretary of State would set a 90-day window during which proponents of the state question would need to gather more than 120,000 signatures of registered voters. If successful, the question could be placed on the November ballot.
