Tulsa, Ok – The Tulsa City Council comes out of executive session and announces it will turn over its investigation into Mayoral Chief of Staff Terry Simonson to the city prosecutor. It will be up to Bob Garner to decide what---if any criminal charges should be filed. The city prosecutor can only file misdemeanor charges. At issue is whether Simonson misled the council over the use of a federal grant.

Under the city charter (Title 27/Section 310), Simonson could face a 100-dollar fine and up to ten days in jail if found guilty of making a false statement to the council.

Since possible jail time is involved, Simonson would have the right to request a jury trial. That jury would be made up of six Tulsa citizens.

Garner says his office already has a backlog of cases, but he will review the report as soon as he receives it.
