Tulsa, OK – Forum will discuss Tulsa school consolidation plan

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The second of four community forums designed to discuss plans to consolidate Tulsa Public Schools is expected to draw parents and city leaders.

Thursday's meeting at Foster Middle School is part of the cash-strapped district's Project Schoolhouse, a massive review of the efficiency and effectiveness of every one of the 90 schools Tulsa operates.

Three "closing summaries" have been offered so far by an advisory panel, and each one proposes shuttering at least a dozen schools in the 41,224-student district.

The review comes as TPS deals with declining general fund revenue and cuts in state aid that forced the district to trim hundreds of administrative and teaching positions from its budget.
