Tulsa, OK – Ex-councilor, radio host seeks Tulsa mayoral post
TULSA, Okla. (AP) A former city councilor-turned-conservative radio talk show host says he wants to be Tulsa's next mayor.
Chris Medlock opened his campaign on Wednesday, saying he wants Tulsa voters to prove one doesn't have to be a millionaire or come from a famous political family to be the mayor of Oklahoma's second-largest city.
The 51-year-old Republican says that Tulsa has been governed by the same group of people for his entire life and that change is needed.
He'd also like to see Tulsa change its form of government from one with a strong mayor to one with a weak mayor and a city manager, similar to Oklahoma City.
Medlock was a council member from 2003 to 2006. He unsuccessfully ran for mayor in 2006, losing in the GOP primary.
