Preliminary Hearing Set for School Shooting Plot

Washington County Booking Photo

The preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 21st for the Oklahoma teenager that is charged with plotting a mass shooting at his Bartlesville high school.

Sammie Eaglebear Chavez is being held on a $1 million bond at the Washington County jail. Chavez, 18, is being accused of plotting a shooting towards students and detonating bombs to kill police. No one was harmed. Chavez was arrested the same day as the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

The only time Chavez spoke during his court appearance was when he said, “Thank you”, at the end. His court-appointed attorney, Jim

Conatser, declined to comment. Assistant District Attorney Will Drake estimates that the prelim will take a couple of days.
