Oklahoma City, OK – Power outages from winter storm below 24,000

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Corporation Commission is reporting the number of power outages from last week's winter storm is now below 24,000.

About 179,000 outages were reported at one time following the storm that began last Friday and is blamed for seven deaths in Oklahoma.

Those still in the dark are primarily in southwestern Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives reports 16,047 customers without power in the region.

The Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority reports 6,352 customers without power with nearly 3,300 of those in Altus and 2,325 in Marlow.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma reports about 900 outages while Oklahoma Gas and Electric says power is restored to all meters that can safely receive electric service.
