Oklahoma City, OK – Backhoe cuts electricity to up to 40,000 customers

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. says all the customers in the Oklahoma City area who lost their power have been restored to service.

An OG& E representative said a backhoe digging a hole or ditch in the Shawnee area cut through a power line late Sunday morning, cutting off electricity in an area stretching from Shawnee to Oklahoma City. Up to 40,000 customers were affected.

The company said repair crews had restored electricity to all customers by about 3 p.m.
