Poultry Case to Be Reviewed By New Administration

By Associated Press

Oklahoma City, OK – Fallin, Pruitt to review Okla poultry lawsuit

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Gov.-elect Mary Fallin plans to review a pending environmental lawsuit filed against several Arkansas poultry companies.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported that Fallin was willing to chat with poultry farmers and review the litigation with incoming Attorney General Scott Pruitt.

Fallin's spokesman Alex Weintz (WENTS) said Saturday the case is one of many legal matters Fallin will look at when she takes office.

Weintz says poultry farmers expressed concern about the fairness of the case, but he said Fallin hasn't concluded whether the lawsuit is proper or improper.

Campaign finance records show employees from some of the companies named in the lawsuit contributed about $15,000 to Pruitt's campaign.

Pruitt's spokeswoman, Crystal Drwenski, says the donations have nothing to do with the review. She says he'll evaluate the case based upon the merits of the arguments presented by both sides.
