TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa police have identified the 23-year-old man who died after he was shot by an off-duty federal officer who intervened in a dispute.

Rodney Walker died following the shooting about 5:15 p.m. Friday. Police identified the shooter as Andrew Bryiant, a Department of Veterans Affairs officer.

Tulsa Police Department Sergeant Dave Walker says Bryiant, who is from Oklahoma City, was driving to a concert featuring country music star Garth Brooks when he saw a domestic disturbance involving Walker and a woman. Independent witnesses say Walker was abusing the woman and had thrown her to the ground.

Police say Bryiant got out of his car to intervene verbally and saw a handgun in Walker's waistband. Bryiant opened fire when Walker appeared to grab his gun.
