Police: Fleeing teen driver shot by OKC officer

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City police say officers shot an 18-year-old driver after the teenager jumped out of a car that police were trying to pull over.

Police say the incident happened Sunday night. The Oklahoman reports that gang officers tried to pull over a car that was moving recklessly. Capt. Dexter Nelson says the car sped away and that three men jumped out of the moving vehicle.

Police say the teenager reportedly had a gun in his hand when he was running from the car. Nelson says an officer opened fire when the teen turned toward the officer with the weapon.

The teen was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital but his condition wasn't immediately available.
