OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City police say two officers have been wounded after a gunman opened fire at police during a traffic stop.

Capt. Paco Balderrama says the officers fired back and fatally shot the man on Monday night. He says an officer pulled over the vehicle and called for backup when he learned a passenger had outstanding warrants. Officers say the passenger got out and started shooting as they were walking to the vehicle.

Balderrama says one officer was shot in the ankle and was taken to a hospital. He says the other suffered an unspecified hand injury and was treated at the scene. Their identities haven't been released.

The driver and two passengers were detained for questioning. No arrests have been reported.

The identity of the man shot by officers hasn't been released.
