Planning Commissioner Hired

By KWGS News

Tulsa, OK – Mayor Dewey Bartlett announced today that Dawn Warrick will join the city of Tulsa as the Director of Planning and Economic Development, effective Dec. 16, 2011.

Warrick will be in charge of the planning, real estate management and development services. Warrick's direct report is Dwain Midget, Community Development and Education Director.

"We look forward to Ms. Warrick coming to the City of Tulsa to implement our comprehensive plan, PLANiTULSA. With input across our city during the PLANiTULSA process, it is important that Ms. Warrick immediately begin working to update our zoning code, implementing three crucial small area plans and looking at organizational modifications between divisions and departments that will help the city be more effective in our planning and economic development efforts," Mayor Dewey Bartlett said.

Warrick leaves her role as Assistant Director of Planning and Design for the Louisville Metro Government in Louisville, KY. Warrick has more than fifteen years' experience in urban planning and was instrumental in securing federal and local grants for Louisville to initiate planning efforts for land use, transportation, sustainability and small area plans. Before her role in Louisville, Warrick worked as a development coordinator for the city of Fayetteville.

"I am very excited to have been hired and to have the opportunity to serve as the Planning Director for the City of Tulsa. I am ready to begin developing the programs, policies and partnerships that will effectively implement PLANiTULSA. The community has a vision and it will take the work of many to achieve it. I am pleased to have been chosen to lead that effort," Dawn Warrick, new City of Tulsa Planning and Economic Development Director said.

Warrick has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and Master of Arts in Geography with an emphasis on GIS and Urban Planning from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and is an AICP certified planner. Warrick is married with two children. Her family plans to join her in the Tulsa area after the end of the school year in Louisville.

Warrick's official start date with the City of Tulsa is Dec.16, 2011 with a salary of $122,481.
