Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. toll road stickers trouble for some drivers
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) New toll-road tags distributed among patrons of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority are proving troublesome for a handful of drivers.
The OTA has had to replace six times the number of tags they expected to replace as drivers switch from a hard-case toll tag to a windshield sticker. Spokesman Jack Damrill tells The Oklahoman some drivers applied the stickers to their dashboard, where a scanner cannot read it.
While tags in a hard case were moveable, the new stickers are destroyed when a driver moves it. Damrill says that, placed correctly, the tag should be practically invisible behind a driver's windshield mirror. The new ones don't "beep" when read, leaving some worried that the new tags aren't working.
The agency expects to send out 1.2 million of the new tags.
