Performance Oklahoma - The Takács Quartet

Takács Quartet "

The Takács Quartet is recognized as one of the world’s great ensembles, offering performances described as peerless in artistry, seraphic in unity of execution, searing and inspiring. Playing with a unique blend of drama, warmth and humor and combining four distinctive musical personalities, the Quartet brings fresh insights to the string quartet repertoire in live performance and through its award winning discography.

Appearing as guests of Chamber Music Tulsa in March of 2015, the Quartet presented two concerts and a master class during their three day visit, the second concert our featured program this week, given on Sunday, March 22nd at 3pm in the Williams Theatre at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. The Quartet offered a Viennese program of works; the Quartet in C Major, Op 76 No 3 by Franz Joseph Haydn, the Quartet in a minor, D 804 (Rosamunde) of Franz Schubert and the Quartet in F Major, Op 59, No 1 (Razumovsky) by Ludwig van Beethoven. And in the course of the program, we’ll enjoy special and insightful commentary from Geraldine Walther who marked her 10th year as the violist of this remarkable ensemble during that season.

This program airs Saturday, May 13th, 8pm on Classical 88.7 HD-1.
