Performance Oklahoma Returns -

Performance Oklahoma returns to the airwaves in this new Fall season with a brand new lineup of programs showcasing the high caliber, richness and variety of classical music performances taking place across our state. We'll begin our journey together with the Brightmusic Chamber Ensemble now marking their 14th season and offering their fifth chamber music festival this past June celebrating "The Music of Vienna." Over the next four weeks we’ll hear all four concerts presented at the Festival and this week, we begin with Concert 1, given on Thursday, June 9th, all performances taking place at 7:30pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Oklahoma City.

Featuring a potpourri of shorter musical works representing the breadth and variety of Viennese music, the first concert offers the Piano Trio No. 28 in D Major, Hoboken 15:16 by Franz Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven's Twelve Variations on a theme from The Magic Flute by Mozart, Threepenny in the Dark by Anton Giulio Priolo inspired by the music of Kurt Weill, the Adagio and Rondo Concertante in F Major, D 487 by Franz Schubert, Arnold Schoenberg's Die Eiserne Brigade and the Kaiser Walzer of Johann Strauss Jr, as arranged for chamber ensemble by Arnold Schoenberg.

This program can be heard Saturday, September 10th, 2016, 8pm on Classical 88.7.
