Performance Oklahoma - Pianist Rick Rowley

Pianist Rick Rowley

Musical Arts Series - Southeastern Oklahoma State University

About pianist Rick Rowley, the Washington Post writes "he is a communicative performer who clearly enjoys playing. He takes the music on its own terms and infuses it with active interpretation, tempered with an understanding of its point and purpose." A versatile artist, Mr. Rowley is also an early keyboardist, conductor, lecturer, speaker, writer, teacher, coach, recording artist, actor, director and founder of a thriving company which rebuilds and restores pianos and other keyboard instruments. Serving as a faculty member of the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Rowley appeared as a guest artist on Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Musical Arts Series on Thursday, February 16th at the University’s Fine Arts Recital Hall offering two "Songs without Words" and the Rondo capriccioso in E Major Op 14 by Felix Mendelssohn, the Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Handel, Op 24 of Johannes Brahms, the Sonata No. 7 in C Major, K 309 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Danzas Argentinas of Alberto Ginastera honoring the centennial of Ginastera's birth in April of 1916.
