At the forefront of today’s performing musicians, and widely acclaimed for his brilliant technique, musicality and emotional engagement with audiences, Mr. Kobrin appeared as a special guest of the Department of Music at Oklahoma State University, invited by Professor of Piano Thomas Lanners, and offered a master class on Friday, January 27th and a recital on Saturday, January 28th at the University’s Seretean Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Performing the Piano Sonata No. 27 in e minor, Op 90, the Piano Sonata No 28 in A Major, Op 101 of Ludwig van Beethoven and the Symphonic Etudes Op 13 of Robert Schumann, Alexander Kobrin speaks about his years of performing and teaching since 2005, and offers his thoughts about Russian pianism in the 21st century, living a life in music and the program’s works.
