Performance Oklahoma: OKC Philharmonic--Classics 5

The London premiere in April 1885 of Antonin Dvo?ák’s Seventh Symphony was one of the great triumphs of the composer’s career, and critics since have often regarded the Seventh as his finest work in the symphonic genre. Offered in a program with the atmospheric and mystical tone poem, The Swan of Tuonela by one of the leading symphonists of the 20th century Jean Sibelius featuring English Hornist Dan Schwarz and from Pyotr Tchaikovsky, who brought his gift for melody and orchestration, to magnificent formally innovative compositions, as Russia's first great symphonist, one of his most beloved works, the ebullient, lyrical and dazzling Concerto for violin and orchestra, the OKC Philharmonic joined by guest violinist Chee-Yun, and music director Joel Levine on Saturday, February 3rd at the Civic Center Music Hall in downtown Oklahoma City.

This program airs Saturday, March 3rd, 8pm on Classical 88.7 HD-1.
