armstrongauditorium.org

Performance Oklahoma airs Saturday evenings at 8:00 on Classical 88.7-1.

This Saturday evening March 9, listen to Grammy-winning opera superstar Nathan Gunn’s performance from the Armstrong Auditorium in Edmond, Oklahoma, recorded late last year. He'll be heard on Performance Oklahoma, produced by Kimberly Powell in the studios of KCSC-FM, our classical music sister station in Oklahoma City.

You'll hear Gunn and his wife, pianist Julie Gordon Gunn, perform a selection of songs by Franz Schubert, including one of the most enigmatic song cycles of the romantic European tradition, Robert Schumann’s Dichterliebe. After intermission, journey back to America to hear a sampling of songs by Samuel Barber, maverick and visionary Charles Ives, and from the music hall and vaudeville tradition, cabaret settings by William Bolcom.

Performance Oklahoma showcases concerts presented across the State, intertwined with guest artist interviews, produced and hosted by KCSC’s Kimberly Powell. In coming weeks hear the first edition of Oklahoma Youth in Classical and also Chamber Music Tulsa’s Tokyo String Quartet concert, coupled with Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Zodiac Trio concert.
