Tulsa, OK – On today's edition of StudioTulsa, we speak with the writer and historian Stanley Weintraub, who's the award-winning author or co-author of more than fifty books. Weintraub's latest effort is an engaging day-by-day volume entitled "Pearl Harbor Christmas: A World at War, December 1941." In this book, we revisit the Christmas of seventy years ago, which arrived about three weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The mindset of Americans at this time; the politics, alliances, and diplomatic developments that overtook the world in the wake of Pearl Harbor; and the special, highly strategic relationship that was shared by FDR and Churchill --- such are the focal points of "Pearl Harbor Christmas." As one critic of this book noted earlier this year in Kirkus Reviews: "A vivid account. . . . A master chronicler, Weintraub [presents a] moody, intensively researched play-by-play narrative [of] the final days of 1941. Ruminations, anecdotes, and creatively re-imagined scenarios crisply capture all of the minute details of the time and sequences of events. . . . Erudite, sweeping, and contemplative --- classic Weintraub."
