Mangum, OK – Jury trial to start for Okla. warden's wife
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The trial has begun for a former Oklahoma prison warden's wife who is accused of helping a prisoner escape.
Jury selection in the case of 48-year-old Bobbi Parker began Monday in Greer County Court in Mangum. Parker is charged with helping convicted killer Randolph Dial escape from the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite in August 1994.
Parker has pleaded not guilty. She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
Defense attorneys say Dial kidnapped Parker and held her hostage until she was rescued in Texas in 2005. Prosecutors allege Parker fell in love with Dial and ran off with him.
Dial died in 2007. He pleaded guilty to the escape and maintained until his death that he kidnapped Parker at knifepoint and took her hostage.
