The Pacifica Quartet On Performance Oklahoma

The Pacifica Quartet from Chamber Music in Oklahoma!

Recognized for its virtuosity, exuberant performance style, and often-daring repertory choices, over the past two decades the Pacifica Quartet has gained international stature as one of the finest chamber ensembles performing today. On the heels of Toronto and Tokyo premieres this past spring, the Quartet kicks off its twentieth anniversary season by performing a new quartet by Shulamit Ran, a longtime collaborator and colleague from their residency at the University of Chicago. Titled "Glitter, Doom, Shards, Memory," the piece and the inspiration behind it are the focus of the Pacifica's latest tour, including a stop in Oklahoma City, presented by Chamber Music in Oklahoma in the second concert this season. The program, offered on Sunday, November 9th at Christ the King Catholic Church, also featured The Quartet in B-flat Major, Op 76, No. 4 by Franz Joseph Haydn, Giacomo Puccini’s I Crisantemi and the Quartet in F minor, Op 80 of Felix Mendelssohn.

Performance Oklahoma is heard each Saturday evening at 8pm on Classical 88.7-1.
