Ozone Alert Season Starts Today at ONEOK Field

KWGS

A sure sign that summer is approaching – today starts the Ozone season. A news conference was held at ONEOK Field to outline the 2014 Ozone issue. County Commissioner Karen Keith says hot summer days will be the worst.

"On Ozone alert days however, the winds are barely moving, which means the pollution that forms the Ozone, it gives it time to build."

And that can cause repertory problems. On Ozone Alert days, you are asked to limit the use of gasoline powered equipment.

"Ground-level Ozone is air pollution that we are breathing, our families, and our children."

Tulsa hopes to avoid a strike-out in the 2014 Ozone season.
