Ozone Alert

By AP

Oklahoma City, OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality has issued a Clean Air Alert for the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metropolitan areas for high concentrations of ozone.

Ground-level ozone is caused when the sun reacts with pollutants from cars and industrial plants to form ozone at or near the surface of the earth. The alert for Tuesday means conditions are favorable for ozone to build up to an unhealthy level.

DEQ officials say people with existing heart or respiratory ailments should reduce physical exertion and outdoor activity.
