OU's Dr. Charles Kimball: On the Rise, Decline, Tolerance, and/or Intolerance of Religion in America

What can we anticipate --- or even expect --- from the future of interfaith discussion in this country? To explore that question, we speak by phone with Dr. Charles Kimball, the Director and Presidential Professor of the Religious Studies Program at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. A noted expert and prolific author and scholar concerning religion and religious history, Dr. Kimball (whose full bio can be accessed here) will participate in the upcoming 2013 Interfaith Trialogue Series, which will be held on February 3rd, 10th, and 17th. (Complete details on where and when this series will take place can be found at this link.) This year marks the 30th anniversary for this important, ever-engaging series of discussions and presentations, which is entitled (this time around) as follows: "Are You Godwired? High Tech and High Touch: The Future of Interfaith Dialogue." The first session of this series --- which gets underway on Sunday the 3rd, and which will include remarks and insights from Dr. Kimball --- begins at 2pm at the Schusterman Jewish Community Center in Tulsa, at 2021 East 71st Street. This opening session is on "The Data Stream of Faith" --- and, in this regard, Dr. Kimball will present data-driven and demographical assertions on religious life in contemporary America (which is also what he shares with us today on ST).
