OU Follow-Up: Tulsans Rally to End Hate

OCCJ Facebook

Tulsa leaders join the ‘Say No to Hate Coalition’ in a rally against racism on the steps of Tulsa’s City Hall. Leaders, one-by-one,  spoke out against the racist comments made on a Sigma Alpha Epsilon video at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

The local leaders talked about how the frat house comments were made in “ignorance” and the only answer to ignorance is “education”.

Members of racial, religious and LGBT organizations took part in the rally. Also speaking was Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan. He told the crowd, hate filled speech cannot be legislated. He says that must be done culturally through condemnation.
