OU Closer to Move

Tulsa, OK – Sooners clear path to join another conference

UNDATED (AP) University of Oklahoma president David Boren says he is focused solely on either keeping the Sooners in the Big 12 or moving to the Pac-12.

Boren spoke Monday after university regents gave him the authority to move the school to a new conference.

Boren said it is not inevitable that Oklahoma will leave the Big 12. But he says the league must prove itself to be stable and share television revenue equally among its members for the Sooners to stay.

He also said he has been consulting with Oklahoma State's leadership and he expects the in-state rivals to stick together whether they stay or go.

Texas' regents granted president Bill Powers the same decision-making power Monday. Oklahoma State's regents have called a special meeting on the topic Wednesday.
