TULSA, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma sheriff who announced his resignation after his indictment last week still faces a review by the state's top investigative agency.
Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown said Monday the agency is still probing the fatal shooting of an unarmed man by a volunteer reserve deputy. Concerns were raised Robert Bates' training after he said he mistook his hand gun and stun gun when he shot Eric Harris last April.
After the shooting, a memo surfaced indicating top sheriff's department officials pressured staffers to disregard their concerns.
Glanz was indicted last week on two misdemeanor counts. One accuses Glanz of refusing to perform his official duties by not turning over information about Bates during a 2009 internal investigation. His lawyer says he will plead not guilty.
