At Once a Ghost Story, a Holiday Tale, and a Musical: American Theatre Company Presents "A Christmas Carol"
By Rich Fisher
Tulsa, Oklahoma – Tulsa's own American Theatre Company is currently offering its 40th Anniversary Season to our community. Now comes one of the standout productions of that gala season, Robert Odle and Richard Averill's "A Christmas Carol," a musical play based on the classic narrative by Charles Dickens. On today's StudioTulsa, we discuss this production with Anthony Santelmo, Jr. (who stars as Scrooge) and Ed Durnal (who's directing the play). "A Christmas Carol" --- which ATC has presented here in Tulsa every holiday season since 1976 --- will run at the Tulsa PAC through December 23rd. (For more information on this production, visit americantheatercompany.org; for tickets, call the Tulsa PAC box office at 596-7111.) Also on our show today, we present commentaries by Barry Friedman (who has some pointed remarks to share with those who keep insisting that the non-Christians among us should also celebrate Christmas) and Ian Shoales (who points out a few of the absurdities related to the Twitter phenomenon).
