Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Publishing Company to be sold

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The chairman of The Oklahoma Publishing Company, publisher of The Oklahoman, says the company is being sold to The Anschutz Corporation, owned by Denver-based businessman Philip Anschutz.

OPUBCO chairman and CEO Christy Everest announced on Thursday the sale of all OPUBCO stock to The Anschutz Corporation and said it will occur in early October.

The transaction includes The Oklahoman, NewsOK.com, the corporate headquarters building, printing facilities and a variety of real estate and other properties. Details were not disclosed.

OPUBCO was founded in 1903 by Everest's' grandfather, Edward K. Gaylord, and Ray Dickinson. She is the third member of the Gaylord family to lead OPUBCO.

The Oklahoman reported that employees of OPUBCO Communications Group, which publishes The Oklahoman and NewsOK.com, will maintain their normal responsibilities.
