OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma labor officials say the state's unemployment rate dropped slightly in November and that all major employment sectors reporting month-to-month job increases.
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reported Friday that Oklahoma's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 5.4 percent in November, down from 5.5 percent in October.
The report shows more than 6,000 jobs were added in November, making it the third straight month that Oklahoma has posted an increase in nonfarm employment. The job gains were led by the government sector, with about 1,500 jobs, and leisure and hospitality, with about 1,300 jobs gained.
Federal statistics show Oklahoma's unemployment rate was tied with Virginia for the 13th lowest in the country. North Dakota's was the lowest at 2.6 percent.
The national unemployment rate in November was 7 percent.
