Tulsa, OK – Okla. unemployment rate up again in July

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) State officials report Oklahoma's unemployment rate increased slightly in July, climbing to 5.5 percent.

The figures released Friday by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission show the rate increased by one-tenth of a percent for the second straight month. Oklahoma's rate was 5.4 percent in June and 5.3 percent in May.

Oklahoma's rate still is significantly better than the national average, which decreased by one-tenth of a percent in July to 9.1 percent.

Oklahoma's unemployment rate also has improved considerably since July 2010, when it stood at 7 percent.
