Oklahoma Unemployment

Oklahoma City – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Southeastern Oklahoma counties had the highest unemployment rates in the state for May while the lowest rates were found in the Oklahoma Panhandle and northwestern corner of the state.

The latest figures from the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission show jobless rates of 10.7 percent in Latimer County, 10.6 percent in McCurtain County and 10.5 percent in Hughes County.

The lowest rate of unemployment is 3.5 percent in Beaver County. A jobless rate of 3.8 percent was reported for Harper County and 4.1 percent was recorded for Dewey County.

Lawton had the lowest unemployment rate among the state's three metro areas, 6.2 percent. The OESC says the jobless rate for the Oklahoma City metro was 6.5 percent and it was 7.7 percent in Tulsa.
