KWGS News File Photo

YALE, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a trooper shot and wounded a man who was leading officers on a chase that began in Pawnee County and ended in Noble County.

OHP Captain Paul Timmons says the trooper shot 40-year-old Brandon Wooten Thursday night while Wooten was driving a suspected stolen pickup truck on a county road at State Highway 15. Timmons says Wooten is hospitalized in Tulsa in stable condition after being shot an unknown number of times.

The trooper's name was not immediately released.

Timmons says the pursuit began near Yale when law officers saw a pickup truck that had been reported stolen and the driver refused to stop. Yale and Pawnee police, Noble and Pawnee County deputies and the OHP took part in the chase.
