NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Forecasters say Oklahoma is at a moderate risk for severe weather as a storm system moves through the state.
The National Weather Service says scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Wednesday in Oklahoma. The area under a moderate risk for severe weather includes the Oklahoma City area, Enid, Ponca City, Stillwater, Ada, Ardmore and Durant.
Northwest Oklahoma is under a slight risk for severe weather.
Forecasters say supercells could develop in the area, creating tornadoes. Baseball-sized hail is also possible with the storms along with winds of up to 70 mph.
After the system moves through, unseasonably cold weather is expected. A freeze watch is in place until late Thursday morning for counties in the Panhandle.
